Just when you were getting used to having a baby, it was time to go back to work. Now that you’re a parent, your priorities have changed in ways you didn’t expect. For example, you have to get back to work and catch up on all the office gossip you missed. During lunch breaks, you might have to pump, and during happy hours, you might have to leave early to pick up the baby.

You’ll be thrilled to see her take her first steps toward correct reading and writing, especially when these things are linked at school and at home. This year, help your kindergartener have fun with language in everyday life, and you’ll see her vocabulary grow like crazy.
She will also learn some important math basics this year, and there will be a lot of ways to help her do so. Educational standards vary between states, districts, and schools, and no two children learn at exactly the same rate, so don’t worry if your child doesn’t learn to read at the same time as the neighbor’s child.
